A razor-sharp mind is what you need to pass your examinations. If you can't think well, then you're likely to struggle with your paper writing. It means adopting a certain routine, which might not conform to the lifestyle of most college students.

You've heard, over and over again, that college is the right place to make new friends. You're hoping that it would be a lifelong friendship, but something excites you. It's your first time to be away from home. You love your parents, but there are days when you don't like being told to do this and that. You may be not an adult, yet, but you have something to prove to them (and to yourself). You attempt to live your own life, which is equivalent to parties on weekends. Someone might invite you to a mid-week drinking, and you won't pass it up. It's a rite of passage, but keep in mind that you'll attend the university once. You can indulge in the things that college students do, but it shouldn't disrupt your focus on the coursework. It requires a commitment, which makes you uncomfortable at first. A List to Look Every Sunday Night

Get a good night's sleep. It's been proven that lack of sleep can lead to forgetfulness. If you have a photographic memory, then a change of mood can affect your concentration. You won't pass your essay examination, as you must work under time pressure. Eight hours of sleep guarantees good mood the following day. You may be unaware that you'll have sharp thinking throughout the long day. It doesn't matter if you rise early or a little late, as long as you know the schedule of your morning lectures.

Exercise regularly. If you're too lazy to go to the gym, if not lift dumbbells, then brisk walking is the perfect exercise for you. It's cold outside your room, which makes it an ideal condition for a stroll. (A warm weather might affect your disposition, which can put you off the track. Timing is everything.) Watch a movie (or TV show). There's no need to worry if you don't have a budget for Netflix subscription, as YouTube has been a source of great movies and TV shows. Play a brain game. It can be a geography quiz, also a trivia on your favorite sports. The best game will be naming ten or more one-syllable words that rhyme with a particular word. Learn a new skill. It can be challenging to do especially if you have little time for anything else. (You realize it during the month of December. It will prepare you for the spring semester.) You can also cook simple dishes, which help you save lots of money.

Don't forget to socialize now and then. You may be too young to notice the early symptoms of dementia, but loneliness can affect your bearing to a greater extent. If you're too shy to go out (and make new friends), then start in the lecture room. Ask a question that is related to the module.

Avoid multitasking at all cost. You'll get exhausted, which makes you too tired to think properly. It can happen to the energetic ones, so schedule activities (or errands) when you're done with your assignment(s).

Some students might be annoyed at the sight of other students chewing gum, but it can be a clever trick if you use it to gain advantage over your coursemates. Chewing helps you to concentrate on a particular task in the shortest time. It can help you finish the draft of your assignment faster than you ever think. Make sure that it won't distract other students if you do it during an essay examination.

A chewing gum also keeps you from eating more food, but don't ignore the hunger pangs. You need lots of calories to keep you going during the long day.
